This project focuses on developing mesoporous silica nanoparticles that can function as both diagnostic and therapeutic agents in the body. The goal is to create nanoparticles that can safely degrade into smaller, easily excreted components after completing their medical tasks, enhancing their clinical usability.
Despite their great potential, full exploitation of mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSiNPs) as in-vivo multi-functional theranostic agents is still held back by the lack of a controlled and complete biodegradability.
