The TRAFFICKER project investigates the operations and social dynamics of human traffickers through ethnographic research in Romania and Portugal. It aims to uncover the complexities of trafficking networks and the personal lives of traffickers, providing insights beneficial for academia, NGOs, and law enforcement.
During the past two decades, millions of euros have been spent by national governments and international organisations on combatting human trafficking and on offering assistance to victims of trafficking.
However, we know surprisingly little about the people who facilitate, manage and orchestrate human trafficking: the traffickers.
