The project investigates how societies understand themselves and their institutions in a global context, focusing on the historical changes that shape these self-understandings. It aims to analyze modernity's diverse interpretations, particularly in South Africa and Brazil, to enrich social and political theory.
The project aims at advancing the analysis of the contemporary plurality of societal self-understandings and related institutional structures of polities in the current global context.
