This project explores new methods for selectively adding trifluoromethyl groups to various organic compounds using photoredox catalysis. The goal is to enhance reactivity and selectivity in chemical reactions, with potential applications in drug discovery and material science.
Fluorine chemistry is critically important to advance a range of fields inclusive of medicinal chemistry, agrochemical chemistry as well as material science.
In this context, there is a demand for new methods for the late stage selective trifluoromethylation of substrates that are not activated by the prototypical carbonyl group functionality.
