The TroPeaCC project investigates tropical peatlands, focusing on their carbon cycling and response to climate change. It aims to enhance understanding of their geographical distribution, carbon sinks, and methane emissions, ultimately informing management strategies for these critical ecosystems.
Tropical peatlands are the most carbon-dense ecosystems in the world and they store the equivalent of ~10 years of global anthropogenic CO2 emissions.
