This project investigates the role of nuclear skeleton proteins in the human parasite Trypanosoma brucei, focusing on their function in gene regulation and nuclear architecture. The research aims to enhance understanding of eukaryotic evolution and develop insights for combating related parasites.
The research objectives of this proposal are to functionally describe nuclear skeleton proteins of the important human parasite Trypanosoma brucei.
Recent data, many of which come from the proposed host laboratory, have revealed two novel protein components of the nuclear envelope (NE) that seem to have similar function as lamins in metazoans.
