The UNCOSS project focuses on developing non-destructive inspection tools for underwater threats, particularly against improvised explosive devices. By utilizing neutron sensors, the project aims to enhance the security of naval infrastructure and maritime areas, addressing vulnerabilities to terrorist attacks.
The waterways are becoming more and crucial for coastal economy, and, paradoxically such areas remain very vulnerable to terrorism attacks especially against underwater IED threats.
