The UNDARK project aims to enhance the research capabilities of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias in astroparticle physics by collaborating with leading institutions. It focuses on networking, staff exchanges, and outreach to address fundamental questions about dark matter and energy in the universe.
Astrophysical and cosmological observations imply that only 5% of the energy of the Universe is made of conventional matter.
Therest is composed by a new type of matter, the so-called dark matter, which has no (or extremely weak) interactions with the knownparticles, and a yet more puzzling repulsive form of energy accelerating the universe's expansion (dark energy).
