This project aims to enhance the resilience of UK crops, specifically oilseed rape, against diseases by developing durable resistance strategies. It focuses on understanding the interactions between crop resistance genes and pathogens to ensure sustainable yields amid climate change and reduced fungicide use.
In response to threats to global food security from population increase and climate change, there is an urgent need to develop UK crops that suffer less losses from diseases and produce sustainable yields, despite withdrawal of fungicides (EU legislation) and the need to mitigate climate change from agriculture (UK government targets).
