UNMASK focuses on developing a non-invasive diagnostic tool for Parkinson's disease using olfaction-inspired technology. The project aims to validate the feasibility of this technology for timely detection and diagnosis, particularly in younger patients, addressing a significant health challenge.
Parkinson´s disease (PD) is a progressive, chronic, and debilitating neurodegenerative disease for which there is no cure and no diagnostic test available.
About 10 million people live with PD worldwide (1.2 million in Europe), and this number is expected to double by 2030 due to the aging population.
