This project examines the neural mechanisms underlying language disorders such as developmental dyslexia and Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) in bilingual children. By using advanced imaging techniques, it aims to identify shared and distinct neural profiles to improve screening and intervention strategies.
Understanding and producing language are uniquely human abilities that rely on distributed neural networks and develop over many years.
Language disorders including developmental dyslexia and Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) disrupt these processes in distinct ways: dyslexia primarily affects phonological processing and decoding, while DLD impairs broader oral language skills, including grammar across comprehension and production.
