UPCareWind aims to develop a new design framework for pile anchors used in offshore floating wind turbines. By enhancing the understanding of pile resistance, the project seeks to optimize anchor designs, reduce material costs, and support the deployment of clean energy technologies in deeper waters.
UPCareWind will develop a new framework for pile anchor design to unlock hidden pile resistance and resilience, and to support the acceleration of offshore Floating Wind Turbine (FWT) deployment. FWT is a key technology for harvesting clean energy over deep water, with thousands of turbines required to meet EU climate neutrality goals, as 70% of the offshore wind technical potential lies in water depths greater than 50 metres.
