This research investigates how visual information is organized into coherent perceptions, focusing on the competition between different interpretations of a scene. It aims to identify the factors influencing this competition and the underlying neural mechanisms using behavioral and neuroimaging methods.
Grouping principles are utilized for the construction of visual information into coherent percepts.
Several grouping principles are usually present in the same scene and often lead to several possible organizations.
However, our conscious percept is usually of one stable organization at a time.
