The V-RNA project aims to uncover the molecular mechanisms of RNA viruses and their interactions with the host immune system. It focuses on how viral RNA is replicated and detected by immune receptors, with implications for antiviral drug development.
RNA viruses infect cells to replicate and repackage their genomes in progeny virions.
In response, the cellular innate immune system detects viral RNA and triggers powerful anti-viral countermeasures.
