The VALPAS project focuses on increasing cervical cancer screening participation through the innovative Colli-Pee device, which allows women to collect urine samples at home for HPV DNA testing. This approach aims to improve early detection and reduce cervical cancer rates.
Annually, about 13,000 women in the EU28 and 266,000 worldwide decease of cervical cancer caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV), thereby ranking third most common cancer worldwide .
Throughout Europe, cervical screening programs are organized by local governments to detect cervical cancer at an early stage.
Importantly, HPV-based screening (instead of cytology-based screening) is being implemented worldwide.
