The VasQ project aims to enhance the success of arteriovenous fistulas for dialysis in patients with end-stage renal disease. By providing external support to veins, it improves blood flow and reduces complications, leading to higher usability rates and better patient outcomes.
Arteriovenous Fistulas (AVF), the process of joining a vein to an artery, is the gold standard for both vascular access (VA) and haemodialysis (HD) in end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients; however, the procedure is fraught with post-surgical complications, leading to a 65% rate of usability 3-months after the surgery.
