This project develops mathematical models to understand the behavior of vascular endothelial growth factor receptors in blood vessel development and repair. It investigates how these receptors interact with growth factors, contributing to insights into angiogenesis and related diseases.
Vascular endothelial cells, that line blood vessels in mammals, make use of membrane-bound receptor molecules to bind extra-cellular molecules, such as growth factors, to regulate blood vessel development, new blood vessel sprouting, and vascular repair.
