The VIBES Proof of Concept project aims to commercialize a newly discovered fast-acting baculovirus, named 'Viking', as a bio-insecticide. This virus can kill insect pests in just one day, offering a safer alternative to chemical pesticides for crop protection.
As human population grows the challenge is to increase food production while protecting the environment.
