This project investigates the relationship between the cholera bacterium and its environmental hosts in marine ecosystems. It aims to understand how virulence factors contribute to both the bacterium's pathogenicity in humans and its survival in aquatic environments.
The etiologic agent of cholera, Vibrio cholerae, is an important cause of human morbidity and mortality, particularly in developing countries or following environmental disasters.
