This project investigates how humans perceive surface shininess through spatio-temporal visual cues. By combining computational methods and brain imaging, it aims to uncover the neural processes involved in recognizing material properties, contributing to fields like cognitive neuroscience and computer vision.
Material qualities are an important aspect of the human visual experience, yet the neural processes by which surface material perception is mediated are still largely unstudied.
