This project aims to uncover the molecular mechanisms behind vitamin C accumulation in citrus fruits. By identifying key genes and pathways involved, it seeks to enhance fruit quality through future plant breeding efforts, benefiting health, agriculture, and food industries.
The main goal of this proposal is to discover the molecular basis of vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid, AsA) accumulation in citrus fruits.
Gaining knowledge on this topic would lead to the identification of candidate target genes for future plant breeding that could contribute to improve citrus fruit quality.
