The WavyRibbons project aims to develop a new method for synthesizing graphene nanoribbons with specific structural properties for use in organic electronics. It focuses on controlling the length and shape of these materials to enhance their electronic characteristics.
Graphene nanoribbons (GNRs) combine the advantages of pristine graphene with the semiconducting properties required for applications in organic electronics.
The properties of GNRs are significantly dependent on their structural variables such as molecular length, width and edging structures.
However, it remains quite challenging to achieve atomically precise control over the structures of GNRs simultaneously, therefore new synthetic approaches are highly desirable.
