This project explores the connection between quantum gravity and the early universe by modeling nearly homogeneous universes within a quantum gravity framework. It aims to derive cosmological models from fundamental theories and investigate the origins of space and time.
This project connects two seemingly distinct areas of theoretical physics, non-perturbative quantum gravity and early universe cosmology.
Using techniques the applicant has recently developed with his collaborators, nearly homogeneous universes like ours can be described as states in a full quantum gravity theory (group field theory).
The effective dynamics of these universes will be calculated and compared with existing cosmological theories such as inflation, varying speed of light cosmologies…
