This project examines the collection of Manuel Ximenes, a 17th-century merchant-banker, to explore the interplay between art, science, and religion in early modern Europe. It aims to understand how knowledge was produced and displayed in elite collections during a time of significant cultural exchange.
In early modern Europe, the collections of elite individuals were important sites to produce, exchange, and display knowledge.
