This project measures turbulence caused by the vertical migrations of zooplankton in lakes to understand its impact on water quality. By quantifying this mixing mechanism, the research aims to improve management of lake ecosystems, which are vital for public health and recreation.
The aims of this work are to directly measure turbulence from vertical migrations of zooplankton, quantify how much mixing the migrations cause, and determine the importance of this mechanism in lakes.
