The Bacticon Catheter project aims to develop a catheter that can detect infections in real-time using a new biosensor technology. This innovation seeks to reduce the mortality and costs associated with severe blood stream infections by providing immediate monitoring capabilities.
Problem Approx. 50% of all patients with severe blood stream infections die from the infections, while the remaining 50% incur excessive socio-economic expenses from prolonged hospital stays.
