This project focuses on developing a three-dimensional array of passive ring laser gyroscopes for high-sensitivity environmental sensing. The technology aims to improve early warning systems for natural disasters like earthquakes and landslides, addressing the limitations of current gyroscope designs.
Sensors for rotation are ubiquitous in our daily life, ranging from consumer electronics to navigation systems.
Applications that require highest sensitivity for very small rotation rates rely on active ring laser gyroscopes (RLGs) or fiber-optic gyroscopes (FOGs).
