This project aims to develop innovative drugs targeting RANKL for treating triple negative breast cancer, which is known for its aggressive nature and high relapse rates. It seeks to identify biomarkers that could improve treatment outcomes for patients.
Breast cancer is the most common malignancy among females in the western world, resulting in half a million deaths annually, mainly due to metastatic disease.
Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) accounts for 1520% of all breast cancers (300.000 women diagnosed worldwide per year).
Despite novel treatments, TNBC remains a clinical challenge due to high rate of relapse, a propensity to form visceral metastasis and its heterogeneity.
