The OPTIMUS project aims to develop a music-based remote rehabilitation program for individuals with aphasia, leveraging the therapeutic potential of music and singing. This innovative approach seeks to enhance communication and emotional well-being in stroke recovery.
Aphasia causes severe impairments in verbal communication, coupled with cognitive and motor deficits and depression, making it the most debilitating and socioeconomically burdening consequence of stroke.
As our population ages and prevalence of stroke and associated care costs increase, persons with aphasia (PWA) often do not receive sufficient rehabilitation in public health care.
